The Wisconsin State Public Defender's Office (SPD) Appellate Division represents indigent clients on appeal. The Appellate Division is organized into 2 regions that provide representation throughout Wisconsin.
ACD is responsible for contracting with outside counsel to represent eligible clients. Attorneys wishing to be assigned public defender cases should review the rules for certification, billing, and the Attorney Performance Standards. SPD is committed to the continuous improvement of our partnership with the private bar.
SPD operates a number of specialty practice groups allowing us to share specialized knowledge and expertise efficiently, lessening the need for staff and private attorneys to “reinvent the wheel” in these complex practice areas. Please click a link to your area of interest.
